Day 5 – Orford – Scamander
Heading out from Orford, it may be worth doing 200km or so today.
Head north through the woodchip town of Triabunna up to Swansea for a late breakfast.
Swansea is on the water so we’ll have some nice views.
From Swansea it’s a bit of a roundabout way to get onto Coles Bay Road and head into Coles Bay and the Freycinet National Park. A lovely national park with some great bushwalks if you’re up to it. There is also Wineglass Bay in here - can’t remember how accessible this is (I think there might be a bit of a walk involved).
Out of the National Park, we head north up to Bicheno, a small seaside fishing village for a late lunch.
Then it’s a bit of a hike up to a small seaside village called Scamander. A lovely little place with just a couple of places to stay.
That’s 211kms for the day – and gets us far enough up the East Coast to head into Launceston for the next day.
